Why has a lump appeared on my neck?

The most common lumps or swellings are enlarged lymph nodes. These can be caused by bacterial or viral infections, cancer (malignancy), or other rare causes. Swollen salivary glands under the jaw may be caused by infection or cancer. Lumps in the muscles of the neck are caused by injury or torticollis.

Can lymphoma lumps appear overnight?

A swollen lymph node can appear seemingly overnight, but in reality, it may have been growing slowly and then became visible. If the lymph node is cancerous, the rapidity with which the lump arises and grows depends on the type of lymphoma that is present.
