Why is Dryvit bad?

The most common problems with Dryvit stucco are caulking and sealing issues that go unnoticed over time. This leads to serious mold issues that can get into the building structure and cause costly damage, as well as causing medical issues for residents.

Is Dryvit synthetic stucco?

The name Dryvit is the name of the manufacturer who produces different stucco systems. The product called Dryvit is a type of synthetic stucco that is applied as a final coat to another stucco system, such as EIFS, to keep water from penetrating the other layers of the wall.

Dryvit Weatherlastic Smooth is a water-based elastomeric wall coating. Dryvit Weatherlastic Smooth is recommended as a waterproof coating on properly prepared concrete, masonry, EIFS and stucco substrates.

Can you put siding over Dryvit?

It traps moisture behind it and will rot your house. If everything checks out ok then you should be able to install over it.

Can you replace Dryvit?

Yes Lynna, you can change it to anything you like. After you remove existing Dryvit, there is original sheeting behind it . If the original sheeting is in good shape and does not show signs of any damage, you install new material following manufacturer instruction.

Is EIFS and Dryvit the same?

Dryvit is the name of the stucco company and they have different stucco systems including 3 coat stucco systems, EIFS systems, decorative systems and more.

Does Dryvit need to be sealed?

Can Dryvit be replaced?
