Why is TNT so important?
❖ TNT is one of the most widely used military high explosives, partly because of its insensitivity to shock and friction. It has been used extensively in the manufacture of explosives since the beginning of the 20th century and is used in military cartridge casings, bombs and grenades (ATSDR 1995; Cal/EPA 2008).
What’s more powerful than TNT?
PETN. One of the most powerful explosive chemicals known to us is PETN, which contains nitro groups which are similar to that in TNT and the nitroglycerin in dynamite. But the presence of more of these nitro groups means it explodes with more power.
Why is TNT bad for the environment?
❖ Since TNT is explosive, flammable and toxic, EPA has designated it as a characteristic hazardous waste once it becomes a solid waste, and EPA regulations for disposal must be followed (EPA 2012a).
Which is stronger TNT or C4?
C4 is 18\% more powerful than TNT. Ammonium nitrate in its pure form is a fairly weak explosive. When combined with fuel oil, however, it gains an explosive power nearly equal to TNT.
Does dynamite explode if shot?
Yes. Most commercial dynamite is somewhat shock sensitive, so shooting it would set it off. In order to detonate dynamite, a shock is needed. This is provided by a blasting cap, and can also be provided by a rifle bullet.

Is there a C5 bomb?
A C5 bomb is a bomb developed jointly by the Obristanian, Kolechian, and Arstotzkan science laboratories. Tested in 2016 on Jupiter, the bomb can explode 1500km (932 miles) worth of land.
Can a bullet set off C4?
C-4 is very stable and insensitive to most physical shocks. C-4 cannot be detonated by a gunshot or by dropping it onto a hard surface. It does not explode when set on fire or exposed to microwaves. Detonation can only be initiated by a shockwave, such as when a detonator inserted into it is fired.
Can a bullet detonate a grenade?
Depending on how far you are, it can explode. It all depends on the bullet you are shooting and the distance you are at. The bullet will penetrate the armor of the grenade causing the explosive to go off making the explosion kind of how a normal grenade works. So yes it will explode if you shoot it.
