Sponsoring the ACM ICPC world finalists is another such initiative on our part, to assist our champions in putting India on the map within the coding circuit. This year we have three teams participating in the ACM ICPC world finals from India – Phoenix, TheKingsGambit and CounterGambit.
What is ICPC (ACM-ICPC)?
The ICPC formerly known as ACM-ICPC (Association for Computing Machinery – International Collegiate Programming Contest) is considered as the “Olympics of Programming Competitions”. It is quite simply, the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.
How many times can a team participate in the ICPC?
Any team can participate maximum at two regional sites. The ‘Go for Gold’ initiative, that was started in 2010, has a singular ambition to watch an Indian team win the World Finals of the ICPC. Taking the long-term view in mind, the plan is to support learning and reward improvement.
What are the ICPC Regionals?
ICPC Regionals: The ICPC regionals are organized by the local universities of different regions spread across the globe. The winners of these regional rounds of the contest get to represent the country in the ICPC World Finals. The Asia Regionals in India will be held at 4 sites viz. Amritapuri, Kolkata, Gwalior, and Kharagpur.

Which are the top 100 institutes in India for ICPC?
The other Indian institutes in top 100 are IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and Chennai Mathematical Institute. Prof. Vikram has been IIIT-H’s official coach for IIIT-H teams participating at ACM ICPC events for seven years now.
