Why SSB-SC is not used for audio broadcasting?

This is nearly ten times as large as the total bandwidth occupied by all the channels of the AM radio. Use of SSB modulation would cut this in half but SSB is not used for video signals because of the complexity of the SSB receivers.

Why is SSB not used for broadcasting?

In addition, the occupied spectrum is less than half that of a full carrier AM signal. SSB reception requires frequency stability and selectivity well beyond that of inexpensive AM receivers which is why broadcasters have seldom used it.

Why SSB-SC is preferred over DSB SC?

The advantages of SSB-SC over DSB-FC signal are : Less bandwidth requirements . This allow more number of signals to be transmitted in the same frequency range . As the bandwidth increases, the amount of noise added to the signal will increase .

Why is SSB better than DSB?

We can see that the SSB transmission does not suffer from the effect of power fading induced by fiber dispersion, while the DSB has a high tolerance to power fading, due to the low frequency of RF carrier [8] . The DSB has a better performance than SSB under short distance because of double sideband. …

Why is SSB not used for broadcasting Mcq?

Explanation: In an SSB the carrier signal is suppressed. Explanation: Since demodulation is hard in SSB signals a low power carrier wave is transmitted with the SSB.

Why is SSB used for voice communication?

SSB-SC modulation is used for voice communication for the following reason: (a) It requires less power (b) It helps in synchronization (c) Bandwidth of voice signal is small (d) Low frequency component of voice signal is zero.

What is difference between DSB SC and SSB-SC?

DSB-SC stands for Double SideBand Suppressed Carrier and SSB-SC stands for Single SideBand Suppressed Carrier. As shown in the fig-2, at DSBSC transmitter, message signal (positive and negative) is modulated using carrier signal and added to suppress the carrier portion. This is referred as balanced modulator.

Why is SSB preferred?

Single sideband modulation, SSB is the main modulation format used for analogue voice transmission for two way radio communication on the HF portion of the radio spectrum. Its efficiency in terms of spectrum and power when compared to other modes means that for many years it has been the most effective option to use.

Is there any advantage of DSB-SC over DSB-SC list them with reason?

Advantages of DSB-SC modulation It provides 100\% modulation efficiency. Due to suppression of carrier, it consumes less power. It provides a larger bandwidth.

What is use of SSB Mcq?

Clarification: In an SSB or single sideband signal, the carrier is suppressed leaving the upper and lower sidebands. The resulting signal is referred to as the sideband suppressed carrier signal and one of the major benefits of this type of signal is that no power is wasted on the carrier.

What is the main limitation of SSB SC system Mcq?

Explanation: One of the main disadvantages of the sideband suppressed signal transmission is that it is hard to demodulate or recover. Since the carrier signal is not present, the carrier frequency must be fed into the receiver to completely extract the information signal.

What is the difference between dsdsb-SC and SSB SC?

DSB-SC stands for Double SideBand Suppressed Carrier and SSB-SC stands for Single SideBand Suppressed Carrier. Both of these are modulation techiques used in AM (Amplitude Modulated) frequency spectrum.

What is the difference between DSB-SC and conventional AM modulation?

4- DSB-SC and SSB modulation systems are used in point-to-point communication while conventional AM finds application in public broadcasting systems. The double sideband – suppressed carrier and single sideband – suppressed carrier are but are much more Complex and expensive techniques.

Is it possible to demodulate SSB-SC?

Yes, in case of SSB-SC, the suppressed carrier should be generated locally and inserted to the received signal (in a way or another) in order to demodulate it. After all, the single sideband (of SSC-SC) has no information (at all) about the frequency and phase of the suppressed carrier.

What is the difference between single sideband and double sideband suppressed carrier?

As clear by the name itself, the double sideband suppressed carrier contains only 2 sidebands and the carrier is suppressed (not present). Single Sideband Suppressed Carrier (SSB-SC) The single sideband suppressed carrier contains only one sideband and no carrier is present. In this one sideband is suppressed.
