Why the Holy Quran is called Quran?

The word Qur’an comes from the arabic word “Qaraa” which means to read,So the Qur’an is a noun from the verb qaraa . the Quran is a Holy Book that is revealed to the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him through which he was asked by Allah (God) to spread His word of peace and guidance that is known by Islam.

How did the Quran come to be the holy book?

Muslims believe that the Quran was orally revealed by God to the final prophet, Muhammad, through the archangel Gabriel (Jibril), incrementally over a period of some 23 years, beginning in the month of Ramadan, when Muhammad was 40; and concluding in 632, the year of his death.

What is the difference between Quran and other holy books?

Qur’an is the only book, reading of which is worship. Other revealed books were only read to learn the conditions inside. Qur’an is a universal book addressing to all humankind and jinns, past and future generations. The other books address only to that period and the people for whom they were revealed.

Is the Koran and Quran the same thing?

Islamic and Arabic scholars say the spelling Qur’an is preferred, but in much of the non-Arabic, Western press, the name of the scripture is more commonly spelled Koran. (The Sun uses Quran in its news stories.)
