Will UK use Eurocodes after Brexit?

During the coming months, current rules on trade, travel, and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply. But after 1 January 2021 the UK will be on its own. Particular areas of interest include Eurocodes which are written to ensure uniform levels of safety in construction design across the EU.

What happens to British standards after Brexit?

Since 1 January 2021 the UK no longer aligns with the rules or obligations of the EU, with the exception of Northern Ireland which continues to follow certain regulations. A vote took place on 25 November 2021 at the CEN CENELEC General Assemblies that confirmed BSI’s continued membership of the two associations.

BSI will continue to be a crucial part of the UK market structure – supporting businesses, government and product users, including consumers and patients: BSI management systems (ISO) certification will still be recognized worldwide as it always has been.
