Can I switch MOS before AIT?

It’s important to talk with your recruiter about possible changes to your MOS before you sign the contract. Once you’ve signed, you’ll have to complete your assignment before you can make any changes. The exception is mandatory reclassification. In some cases, an MOS is eliminated from the MOS structure.

Can the National Guard change your MOS?

Yes. Anyone can be moved to another MOS based on the needs of the Army. Usually though, when you enlist specifically for the National Guard, you will have a nearby unit that has an opening, and you will enlist for an MOS that they need.

Can you change your MOS after basic training army?

How do you Reclass MOS?

To be authorized to reclass or reenlist for a new MOS, there must be a “Y” under the “In” column of the MOS the soldier wishes to reclass or re-enlist into, regardless of promotable status.

The Army’s Reenlistment Opportunity Window (ROW)–the time or “window” qualified Soldiers can reenlist–opens 15-months from your ETS and closes at your ETS! Unless your ETS is October 1, 2021 (Fiscal Year or FY22) or later!

Soldiers must be fully eligible to reenlist or request an extension of the current assignment. Your MOS will change when you get promoted in the Army. Even if you stay in the same general career field, the knowledge and experience you’ve gained will earn you new responsibilities and benefits.
