Are a sharp and B flat the same thing?

A# (“A sharp”) and Bb (“B flat”) are the same note. When 1 note has 2 different names, it’s called an enharmonic.

Is there such a thing as B Sharp?

B# is a white key on the piano. Another name for B# is C, which has the same note pitch / sound, which means that the two note names are enharmonic to each other. It is called sharp because it is 1 half-tone(s) / semitone(s) up from the white note after which is is named – note B. The next note up from B# is C# / Db.

Much like a flat tire, a flatted note goes down. The flat symbol looks like a pointy lower-case letter B or almost like an arrow pointing down.
