Can I put a Micro-ATX motherboard in an ATX mid case?

Yes, you can. The mounting holes on an mATX board are the same as an ATX board – they just have less of them because the board isn’t as large. You will have no trouble using that motherboard in that case.

Will a micro-ATX power supply fit in an ATX case?

YES. A micro-atx motherboard will work fine with an ATX case and power supply. Atx cases normaly included the standoff mounts for smaller mirco-atx motherboards. In fact, I have a micro-ATX motherboard in a full size ATX case and power supply.

Are microATX bad?

The micro atx form factor in general isn’t bad, their identical to their ATX brethren but only have less expansion slots. However if you mean AM3+ micro atx boards specifically then yes they are not that great, none of them even have a 990fx chipset.

Can microATX fit in mini tower case?

I know the general answer is no, but this particular Micro-ATX board I have is fairly small. Smaller than the regular Micro-ATX. It only has 2 PCI slots, which makes it only 7.5 inches in length, compared to the 6.75 inches of a Mini-ITX.

Go to pcpartpicker.com and search for your PSU or Case. Select your PSU or Case from the search results. In the Search Field, search for the product for which you want to check compatibility. If it is compatible, it will appear in the search results.

A Micro-ATX motherboard will fit and look okay in an ATX case. Just double check that the motherboard stand-offs are in the right position and leave the unused ones in place for a possible future upgrade to a standard ATX motherboard. Might need some slot covers for the backplane since a Micro-ATX motherboard has fewer card slots.
