Can you be in the Canadian armed forces with asthma?

According to the 2018 “Medical Standards for Appointment, Enlistment, or Induction into the Military Services” issued by the Department of Defense, having a history of asthma after 13 years of age is considered to be a “disqualifying condition” for service.

Can you join the Air Force with mild asthma?

Asthma: The Air Force will use the Methacholine Challenge Test to provide an objective measure of candidates with an ambiguous or uncertain history of asthma. Candidates who successfully pass this test will be processed for a waiver.

What is slight asthma?

With mild intermittent asthma, the symptoms are mild. This classification means you’ll have symptoms up to two days per week or two nights per month. This asthma type will usually not hinder any of your activities and can include exercise-induced asthma.

Asthma can also get worse over a period of time in which you see that more quick-relief medicine than usual is needed to control asthma symptoms. An asthma attack needs to be treated quickly using the right medicine. If left unattended, asthma attacks and related symptoms worsen and can even become fatal.
