Can you get kicked out of military housing?

If you currently reside in on post housing your family is authorized to live there until you are no longer in the military. Once your chapter is complete the military housing has the right to terminate your leasing contract and kick you out.

Are there rules for military spouses?

There are no laws governing military marriage. Military members can marry whomever they want, including same-sex partners.

How long does it take for BAH to kick in after getting married?

Just realize the transition from DA Form 5960 to dollars in your bank account may take time. Two months after marrying, the Hammonds still haven’t seen their BAH increase. But when it does, the Army will back pay them.

Can my spouse kick me out of military housing?

Though a military spouse remains legally a spouse until until a civilian court has issued a decree of dissolution, that does not mean the spouse automatically can stay in military housing. A married member is entitled to military housing, so until the divorce is final, the family will not lose the housing.

Can my wife live with me in the army?

Spouses are not allowed to live with their soldiers during basic training. Soldiers are required to live on post in the barracks during this introduction to the Army. While family members are free to move to the same area, they will not be allowed to see the soldier any more often than if they lived far away.

Will I get back pay for BAH?

Your BAH may not show up in the pay right away. This may take a couple payday’s longer, but don’t worry, they will “back pay” you and you will get all the appropriate moneys eventually.

Do I get BAH as soon as I get married?

Your BAH should kick right in once you are in DEERS and he has updated his Page 2 with personnel. Like someone else said, you will be back paid to the day you get married. There are some cases where it takes a while or there are mistakes with paperwork and whatnot.

Do you have to live in the barracks during basic training?

Living in the barracks or dormitories is mandatory during basic training and job-school and your dependents are not allowed to travel to basic training or job school at government expense. During these periods you receive BAH for the area that your dependents reside.

How much Bah do you get if you are in the military?

The amount of BAH depends on your rank, your location, and whether or not you have dependents. If you are in the Guard or Reserves and entitled to a housing allowance, you will receive a reduced BAH, called BAH Type II, anytime you are on active duty for less than 30 days.

Can a single person live off base in the military?

Policies concerning single military members living off-base at government expense vary from service to service, and even from base to base, depending on the occupancy rate of the barracks or dormitories on the particular base. Army policy allows single members in the paygrade of E-6 and above to live off base at government expense.

Can single enlisted military members move out of the dormitory?

All in all, most single enlisted people look forward to the day when they can move out of the dormitory. At most locations, single members can elect to move out of the dormitory and get a place off-base at their own expense. That means the government will not give them BAH (Housing Allowance), nor will the government give them a food allowance.
