How capable is the Type 45 destroyer?

Type 45 Daring Class destroyer has a length of 152m, a beam of 21.2m and is capable of accommodating 235 people. The ship has a displacement of approximately 8,000t. The designed top speed of the vessel is over 30k, while the range is more than 7,000nm.

Nick Brown, the editor-in-chief of Jane’s International Defence Review, was quoted by The Huffington Post (a US online news aggregator and blog) saying, “It’s [Type 45 destroyer] certainly one of the most advanced air defence ships in the world… The US Aegis system is similar, but Sea Viper is more advanced.”.

Is the T45 the world’s finest air-defence destroyer?

These are significant claims, and while there is considerable evidence that the T45s are indeed the RN’s most capable destroyers it has ever had, the assertion that they are the world’s finest air-defence destroyer is debatable, at least in their current configuration.
