How did Craster make a deal with the White Walkers?

Craster gives his sons to the White Walkers in exchange for the safety of his keep, the security of his life and of his daughter-wives. If this is the only language they are able to communicate with then is there a chance that Craster might be able to somewhat mimic it too.
