Concussion symptoms usually appear within minutes of the head injury. However, some symptoms may take several hours to appear. Symptoms can change days later; others can develop when the brain is stressed with use.

It is commonly described as a ‘pounding’ or ‘throbbing’ pain. It is sometimes associated with nausea and sensitivity to light and noise.

How long will headaches last after hitting head?

Generally, immediate head pain can manifest within a few hours or days after hitting your head and resolve itself shortly after with proper rest and treatment. However, post concussion headaches and migraines begin within 7 days of the injury and generally last for at least 3 to 6 months.
