Is Air Force basic training difficult?

Your career in the Air Force officially begins with Basic Military Training (BMT). It is a challenging experience both mentally and physically but will ultimately transform you from humble recruit to confident Airman with the skills and confidence you need to excel as a member of the U.S. Air Force.

What is your Air Force BMT issue?

When you initially arrive at Air Force basic training, you’ll be issued a backpack stuffed full of the essentials you’ll need. To cover the cost of the backpack and the items inside, a couple of hundred dollars will be deducted from your paycheck.

During this week, you receive an Airman’s coin that is only given to those that successfully complete Air Force Basic Military Training. After graduation you will then be allowed to go out on the town with family and wear your dress blue uniform.

Sweat, dirt, and sand is messy enough. AF BMT, in my opinion, is mostly a mental game. Their method is to break you (or at least try to), so that they can build you up again into a better version of yourself.

There are running days, Air Force BMT Strength Days. I typically slept in full PT gear – socks, spandex, shorts, shirt, ID holder around my neck, and usually with extra 341s in my pocket already (more on them later).
