Is GRE Quant more important than verbal?

Is 309 a bad GRE score?

If a program’s average GRE score is around 310, getting this score will make you a competitive applicant. If, on the other hand, a program’s average is higher—such as 315 or 320—you’ll want to get a score higher than 310 to make yourself more competitive and increase your chances of getting in.

A 160 is an 89th GRE percentile Quant score for a future Arts and Humanities student—but only a 48th GRE percentile score for an Engineering student! Also, note that in Physical Sciences, a whopping 9\% of test-takers receive a 170. In Engineering, 7\% receive a 170, and in Business, 5\% do.
