Is it worth taking lower branches at IITs?

Low branches in IITs will ruin your life and hopes and aspirations. All 4years you’ll end up mugging things nothing else. Do what you want in life. Don’t run after jobs as most IITians either do MBA or bork for Banks, I mean doing something completely what they are not meant for.

Does branch matter in old IIT?

IIT’S are one of the reputed colleges in India. Lower branches does mean the lower cutoff marks. In general you must prefer the branch you are interested in as the placement depends upon your performance but as top IIT have good placement offers and many top companies recruit the students no matter of the branch.
