Is online FIR possible in India?

An FIR is a written document which is prepared by the police in India. It is prepared when the police receive information about the commission of a cognizable offence. People can also lodge an FIR through online medium.

Under the E-FIR system, any citizen can now log in from anywhere in India and file an E-FIR. This means that every citizen can now exercise his or her fundamental right in seeking justice against any criminal offense committed against him or her.

There is absolutely no way FIR can be filed online, as the law stands now. A man missing report or lost document report can be filed online. But as per Section 154 the FIR has to be filed/registered in a definite manner which can not be done online.

Step 1- Visit the Official Website of UP Police i.e. https://uppolice.gov.in/. Step 2- In the page that opens there, one option will be shown by Citizen Services and one option will be cctns. Step 3- When you click on cctns, it will see a view fir at the bottom. Step 4- You can see a copy of the FIR by clicking on it and print it out.
