How many dives do you need to get advanced open water?

The PADI Advanced Open Water Course consists of 5 different adventure dives. You are required to do a knowledge review for each dive, which your instructor will go over with you before getting in the water. The course can be done over 2 or 3 days, with up to 3 dives being completed in one day.

What is the Advanced Open Water Diver course?

The Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about advancing your skills. You’ll practice navigation and buoyancy, try deep diving and make three specialty dives of your choosing (it’s like a specialty sampler platter). For every specialty dive you complete, you can earn credit toward PADI ® specialty certifications.

What are the prerequisites for PADI open water diving?

Course prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver, or qualifying entry-level certification. The minimum age to start the Advanced Open Water Diver course is 12. Diver certification Divers 10-11 can earn a Junior Adventure Diver certification.

What do you learn during advanced scuba certification course?

Throughout advanced scuba certification course, you will use all of the necessary scuba diving gear that you are already accustomed with, including your wetsuit, BCD, compass, mask, tank, and dive computer. However, you will also learn to utilize even more pieces of equipment to make your dives even more unforgettable.

What can I do with my open water certification?

There are many sea creatures that you can’t see at shallower depths, and wrecks are often found deeper than the 18m/60ft maximum your Open Water Certification allows you to go. If you want to go pro, you can then go on further to complete your Rescue, Dive Master and Instructor certifications!
