Where are APK files stored when downloaded from Play Store?

apk files are downloaded and stored in subfolders under a location on your device called /data . By default, you do not have permissions to read from that location. In order to read/write in that location, you will need to root your device.

Where are apps stored in Android?

The place where you find all apps installed on your Android phone is the Apps drawer. Even though you can find launcher icons (app shortcuts) on the Home screen, the Apps drawer is where you need to go to find everything. To view the Apps drawer, tap the Apps icon on the Home screen.

Where are app files stored on Android?

For normal apps, there are stored in internal memory in /data/app. Some of the encrypted apps, the files are stored in /data/app-private. For apps stored in the external memory, files are stored in /mnt/sdcard/Android/data.

Do you need to keep APK files?

You still need the APK file, as this contains your executable binaries. If you delete the APK file, your app disappears!

If you want to know where your apk files are stored, open a emulator and then go to DDMS>File Explorer-> you can see a directory by name “data” -> Click on it and you will see a “app” folder. Your apks are stored there.
