Who is the Green Man in Islam?

al-Khiḍr, (Arabic: contraction of al-Khaḍir, “the Green One”) a legendary Islamic figure endowed with immortal life who became a popular saint, especially among sailors and Sufis (Muslim mystics).

Is Khidr mentioned in Bible?

But the origin of Khidr or Hızır is obscure. His name is not mentioned in the Bible or in the Quran. One of the Islamic traditions, however, says that the Prophet Moses went to Ethiopia to acquire knowledge and, while there, he met a man named Khadir (Hızır).

Is al Khidr (as) still alive?

Imam Ibn Kathir states that al Khidr (as) is still alive: “There is an agreement among the majority of scholars that Khidr (as) is living now. There are many reports and witnesses who have reported accounts and hadiths that this is the case.” (Al-Bidaya wa Nihaya, 1/328)

How did Khidr get his name?

Imam Bukhari reports that Khidr got his name after he was present over the surface of some ground that became green as a result of his presence there. There are number of stories for living-being of Al-khidr but basis of each is week and can’t be used to prove anything. Al-Khidr is not alive, rather he died.

At one place Khidr (as) drank this water. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, “Allah has forbidden the fire to consume the marks of prostration. They will be taken out of the Fire having been burnt, and the water of life would be poured over them, and they will sprout as seed does In the silt carried by flood”. (Muslim)
