Why are tanks obsolete?

Tanks will only become obsolete to forces that can destroy city blocks without retribution and will actually do so. Armored, mobile heavy weapons platforms won’t go out of style, and while they are vulnerable to air strikes, they tend to be difficult to destroy in other circumstances.

Not completely obsolete but in most plausible battle scenarios, modern MBT are becoming less relevant. Back during WW2 the only possible way to break through heavily defended lines was using tanks, initially infantry tanks with adequate protection and firepower.
