Why is my right arm so much bigger than my left?

Well, this is perfectly normal. In fact, most people will have some degree of an imbalance when it comes to their arms and this is because one will be more dominant than the other. If you’re right-handed, it’s likely that your right arm will be slightly stronger, and maybe bigger than your left.

How do I get bigger arms without losing muscle?

Start with one rep with the one arm of the smaller part. For example, if you’re doing curls, do one dumbbell curl with your left arm. Now do a single rep with BOTH arms (right and left) at the same time. Immediately do another rep with the smaller arm again. If there is a very minor difference then its okay.

Is it normal for my left arm to be larger?

If you are right handed and your left arm is pronouncedly larger you should see your doctor as it may be a circulatory or cardiac issue. If you are left-handed then it is normal for your left arm to be larger than the right but not greater larger. As always, ask your doctor if you have any concerns.

Your final option to strengthen your weaker right arm is to choose a heavier weight when doing one arm exercises like dumbbell curls. If you normally use 30 pound dumbbells for each arm, then choose a 35 pound dumbbell for your right arm only and continue doing the set with the 30 pound dumbbell for your left arm.
