Why TFA is used in HVAC?

TFA is a device that takes air from the outside environment and filters it then provides it inside a room or workspace. TFA is also known as the Fresh Air handling Unit(FAHU). TFAs are also designed with cooling and heating coils to provide cooling and heating in a room.

What is TFA in air conditioning?

Treated Fresh Air Units (TFA) are also known as Fresh Air Handling Units (FAHU). Unlike Air Handling Units that are used to recirculate the air in an enclosed space, TFAs cater to large, fresh airflow and recovery needs by treating outdoor air using filters and condition it some degree using a cooling system.

AHU, which is Air Handling Unit is an appliance used to circulate air. HVAC is Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning system. HVAC is the central unit to which AHU is connected. AHU is only a part of HVAC and as such there is hardly any difference between then two.

An Air Handling Unit (AHU) is used to re-condition and circulate air as part of a heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system. The basic function of the AHU is to take in outside air, re-condition it and supply it as fresh air to a building.

There are basically two types of air handling unit that are in used and they are the “Draw-Through” or “Blow-Through”. In the Draw-Through type, the fan pulls the air through the mixing box, filters and cooling coil before discharging it from the fan outlet to the space to be conditioned or to the ducting network.

Is TFA always installed with an exhaust system?

TFA always installed with an Exhaust System. Because TFA takes outside air and fed to the room inside, so the air pressure inside the room will increase. So, to reduce or maintain the air pressure an exhaust system must be required. On the other hand, AHUs may not require any exhaust system which conditions 100\% inside air only.
