I’d agree with the comment above. If you really want to work at a commercial law firm then tbh the BCL is a bit of a waste of money because given that you got onto it you obviously have very good academics anyway so should have no problem getting a TC. If its the bar you want then the BCL is almost a must these days.
Is the BCL good for pupillage?
The BCL is definitely highly regarded at the Bar, especially by the top commercial sets, and so it is certainly of great assistance when trying to secure the better pupillage contracts. Quite a few stayed on at Oxford to do the DPhil, and a small hard core went over the the USA to do the LLM at Harvard.
